How is a virtual card different from a physical card?
Functionally, virtual and physical cards work in the same way. However, there are a few differences:
- You can use a physical card to pay at point-of-sale terminals directly. Since virtual cards are digital, you can only use a virtual card at payment terminals only via ApplePay or Google Pay.
- Physical cards can be used for withdrawing money from ATMs with the help of a security PIN. But you cannot withdraw money from ATMs using a virtual Card.
What is a virtual card?
Virtual cards are online cards that are not physically issued. Instead, these are cards that are issued digitally to your device but can be treated just like a normal card. You can use it to spend online or even link them to ApplePay and Google Pay.
You will not be able to pay for products or services at point-of-sale terminals unless it is linked to a payment wallet such as ApplePay or GooglePay.
How do I activate my Clove MasterCard?
Your Clove MasterCard is sent to you together with a four-digit activation code. In order to activate the card, please open the Clove app on your phone and enter the activation code in the Card section of the app.
Why hasn't my Debit card arrived yet?
Please double-check the estimated arrival date for your card in the Clove app. In most cases, your Clove card will arrive at the registered address within five business days. It’s also worth checking that your flatmate or neighbour has not received the card on your behalf.
If you have been waiting longer than the estimated arrival date and believe that your card has been lost, please report the card as lost or stolen in the app and a replacement card will be ordered automatically. If you are unsure how to do this please contact our Customer Support team via email.
How can I lock/unlock my Clove card?
This depends on whether you are using the Android or iOS app.
- On Android - tap on ‘Debit card’ from the app’s menu and then choose ‘Lock card’.
- On iOS, visit the ‘Card’ tab and tap on ‘Lock card’.
You can always unlock your card afterward. This is done in the same way as locking your card.
