What is Request Payments?


Request Payments allow you to easily request money from someone by simply selecting them from your phone’s contacts list, or by adding a new recipient and typing in their phone number.




How do I request a payment?


Log in to the Clove app and tap on the ‘Pay’ button on the bottom of the home screen.

Then select “Request” and browse your contacts list to choose the person you want to request money from.

Alternatively, tap on “Add new” and simply type in the recipient’s phone number. Enter the amount you want to request, and hit ‘send’.




How will I know if someone has requested a payment from me?


In the Clove app, on the home screen, you will be able to see all your pending payment requests. You will also receive a notification once a new payment request comes in.




What happens if I don’t have sufficient funds to make the payment?


If your account doesn’t have enough funds to make a requested payment, you’ll be notified in the app. You’ll then have two options:

  • Add money to your account by tapping the ‘Add money’ button
  • Cancel the payment by tapping the ‘Cancel’ button




If someone has requested a payment from me, do I need to pay them?


No, you’re under no obligation to pay.

You have the option to pay or decline any request for payment that you’ve received. If you decline the payment, the requester will receive a notification – or, if you don’t take any action, the pending request will expire after five days.
